  Description:	The goal of the Scleroderma Clinical Research fellowship is to gain advanced expertise in both clinical and research skills in the scleroderma spectrum of disorders. The fellows attend core clinics with Drs. Sindhu Johnson and Zareen Ahmad at Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH) and Toronto Western Hospitals (TWH) longitudinally over 1 year. Fellows are expected to undertake a scholarly project and particpate in observational studies and/or clinical trials of novel therapeutic agents. Fellows critically appraise and present research articles under the supervision of Dr. Zareen Ahmad at the monthly Scleroderma Journal Club. Fellows particpate in the teaching of junior trainees and allied health professionals. Fellows partipate in knowledge translation activities and advocacy activities with scleroderma specific organizations. The fellow attends Scleroderma clinic with Dr. Johnson (MSH, TWH), Scleroderma Clinic with Dr. Zareen Ahmad (MSH), Multidisciplinary Morphea Clinic with Dr. Zareen Ahmad (MSH), Pediatric Morphea Clinic with Dr. Ron Laxer (Hospital for Sick Children). Elective rotations may include Lupus Clinic, Vasculitis Clinic, Rheumatoid Arthritis Clinic, Metabolic Bone Disease Clinic and Pre-Clinical Autoimmunity Clinic. Fellows are expected to review the chart in advance of the patient encounter; order and follow-up on appropriate investigations; identify and manage medical issues; and search the literature when investigational or management options are not clear. Fellows are expected to work collaboratively with staff, allied health professionals and other specialists in the patient’s circle of care. Occasionally, fellows are expected to provide inpatient SSc consultation on the diagnosis and/or management of advanced SSc at MSH, TWH, Toronto General Hospital, and Hospital for Sick Children. Fellows are expected to participate in a minimum of 1 scholarly project from start to finish: framing the question, literature search and synthesis, study design, protocol development, data abstraction form development, research ethics approval, data collection, data cleaning, analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, presentation of findings and peer-review publication. Fellows are expected to present their work at the Division of Rheumatology Research Day (Ogryzlo Day), submit an abstract for a national meeting (usually the Canadian Rheumatology Association Annual Meeting), submit an abstract to an international meeting (usually the American College of Rheumatology or European League Against Rheumatism meetings or the Scleroderma World Congress), and produce draft 1 of a completed manuscript.

  Description:	The University of Toronto Spondylitis Program is a research clinic studying the course and prognosis of patients with axial spondyloarthritis by longitudinal collection of clinical and laboratory data in a standardized fashion. Postgraduate fellows having completed Rheumatology training who wish to get additional specialized training in Spondylitis participate in the clinic for a minimum 12-months with the objective to gain expertise in the assessment, investigation, management and treatment of patients with axial spondyloarthritis and gain an understanding of current clinical research in this area and develop expertise in research methodology. This can include enrolment in a graduate program towards a MSc or PhD. The fellow will devote 100% of his/her professional time to fellowship-related activities including: Attending specialized outpatient AS Clinics supervised by the fellowship mentors (2-days/week) where they will be responsible for the assessment, management and follow-up of AS patients. Participation in journal clubs, inter-disciplinary rounds, and inter-hospital teaching rounds of the University of Toronto Rheumatology training program and Spondylitis Program teaching rounds. The fellow will be expected to participate and contribute to ongoing research studies (including cohort studies, registries, and clinical trials). The fellow will propose and carry out new clinical research projects, e.g., performing literature review, developing study protocol, collecting data and analyzing and interpreting results. The fellow will present finding of research at appropriate meetings and prepare drafts of manuscripts suitable for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

  Description:	The aim of this fellowship is to gain advanced training in the Systemic Autoimmune Rheumatic Diseases. The core rotations of Scleroderma Clinic, Lupus Clinic and Pre-Clinical Autoimmunity Clinic will occur longitudinally over 1 year. These are longitudinal observational clinics where fellows will gain clinical expertise and be exposed to observational research and clinical trials of advanced therapeutics. Fellows will have the opportunity to undertake one or more scholarly projects that may fall within the spectrum of basic science, translational studies, and observational studies. Elective rotations in Antiphospholipid Antibody Clinic, Rheumatoid Arthritis Clinic, Vasculitis Clinic and Morphea Clinic may be considered. Post-Graduate fellows having completed rheumatology training who wish to get additional specialized training in systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases participate in these clinics for a minimum 12 months with the objective to gain expertise in the assessment, investigation, management and treatment of patients with these complex autoimmune disorders and gain an understanding of current research in this area and develop expertise in research methodology.  This can include participation in advanced degree courses.    The fellow will devote 100% of his/her professional time to fellowship-related activities including: Attending specialized out-patient Scleroderma, Lupus and Pre-Clinical Autoimmunity Clinics supervised by the fellowship mentors where they will be responsible for the assessment, management and follow-up of SARD patients.   Description:	 The University of Toronto PsA and SLE Clinics are research clinics studying the course and prognosis of patients with these conditions performing longitudinal collection of clinical and laboratory data in a standardized fashion.    The fellowship offers post-graduate fellows having completed rheumatology training the opportunity to complete a combined advanced fellowship in SLE and PsA for a minimum period of 12 months with the objective to gain expertise in the assessment, investigation, management and treatment of patients of with SLE and PsA and gain an understanding of current clinical research in this area and develop expertise in research methodology.   This can include participation in advanced degree courses.    The fellow will devote 100% of his/her professional time to fellowship-related activities including: Attending specialized out-patient SLE and PsA Clinics supervised by the fellowship mentors (3-4) half days/week) where they will be responsible for the assessment, management and follow-up of SLE and PsA patients. Participation in journal clubs, inter-disciplinary rounds, and inter-hospital teaching rounds of the University of Toronto Rheumatology training program and SLE and PsA Research Program teaching rounds.  They will be responsible for teaching medical students participating in the Clinics.   Description:	 "The Vasculitis Fellowship" is a clinical training and research program offered to physicians who have completed 5 years of postgraduate training who wish to get additional specialized training in vasculitis. The trainee will undertake the clinical fellowship in the vasculitis clinic center at Mount Sinai Hospital under the supervision and guidance of senior faculty mentors (Drs. Christian Pagnoux and Medha Soowamber). Goals are to further develop expertise in the diagnosis and management of patients with all forms of vasculitis, and to get more experience and further exposure to research in vasculitis, in order to understand how to develop, conduct and participate in studies in this specialized field. The Vasculitis Fellow will devote 100% of his/her professional time to fellowship-related activities, including: attending regular and combined specialized outpatient vasculitis clinics with their mentors (3 to 8 half-days per week). being actively involved in the management and follow-up of all patients seen during the clinics, participating actively to rounds, journal club, teaching sessions on vasculitis, being involved, participate and actively contribute to ongoing vasculitis research studies (including cohort studies, registries and randomized controlled trials), being involved in the development of educational materials on vasculitis, developing a personal program to further develop his/her research and clinical skills in vasculitis, with support and guidance from the fellowship mentors and with emphasis on the future possible collaborations with them and the Canadian Vasculitis research network.
