  Description:	The program is intended to provide emerging clinician investigators with an opportunity to acquire advanced research and clinical skills in the field of cardiometabolic disease. Cardiometabolic disease encompasses the diagnosis and ambulatory management of patients with or at risk of chronic cardiovascular disease (e.g., atherosclerosis, heart failure, cerebrovascular or peripheral vascular disease) including high-risk groups such as those with diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and hyperlipidemia. Patients will be identified in both the acute-care and ambulatory setting with a goal towards a multidisciplinary approach to their longitudinal care. Research will involve the acquisition of new knowledge and skills in conducting Health Canada regulated randomized trials testing new therapies to improve clinical outcomes in these patients. The training will place a particular emphasis on the clinician-scientist role which enables potential synergy between developing an alignment between a clinical career and research focus. Fellows will participate in ambulatory clinics and the consultation service. Specific time for clinical versus educational activities will depend on an individual fellow’s needs. There is no on-call requirement and no weekend clinical service requirements. Fellows are expected to participate in teaching cardiology residents, internal medicine residents and medical students both while in clinic and also in formalized teaching roles (sub- specialty rounds and teaching sessions organized through the post-graduate medical education and undergraduate medical education programs at UofT). Fellows are expected to take an active role in the cardiovascular outcomes research program, a critical research initiative at WCH and UofT. The percent of protected time for research and educational activities will vary between applicants but is expected to be approximately 75%. Fellows will also have an opportunity to lead a secondary analysis of a completed trial or observational/registry study with the intent that the manuscript is submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal by the end of their term.

  Description:	The Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Fellowship Program is based at two major sites: The Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. It is a two year program.  Trainees will acquire in depth knowledge of human pharmacology, therapeutics, and toxicology tailored to different age groups (pediatric and adult), and diverse populations, addressing aspects of gender, ethnicity, and ethics.  Over the course of training, fellows must demonstrate competence in the foundations of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenetics, pharmacoeconomics and pharmacoepidemiology. Fellows will also acquire knowledge in drug development and regulation, clinical aspects such as adverse drug reactions and interactions and therapeutic drug monitoring with an objective of improving the levels of health within communities, unique population groups, and individuals. They will also conduct research, utilizing statistical analytic methodology, and critically appraise publications. The program requires the trainee and the supervisor to identify individual future career goals and settings according to the Competence by Design framework. The program integrates the CanMEDS Roles in the training and encourages trainees to undertake advanced level training in related areas. Fellow position availability is dependent upon the funding situations of the supervising faculty members.

  Description:	The fellow will develop expertise in 3 core areas: cutaneous malignancies, skin toxicities of anti-cancer treatments, and cutaneous medical oncology. The program will include the full spectrum of clinical management, from clinical diagnosis to histopathological confirmation and surgery and chemotherapeutic treatments for a wide range of cutaneous malignancies including melanoma, high-risk basal and squamous cell cancers, and rare skin cancers such as Merkel cell carcinoma and other cutaneous malignancies. A multi-disciplinary approach will be utilized, and the fellow will primarily work closely with dermatologists and medical oncologists as well as with dermatopathologists, radiation oncologists, and surgical oncologists. In addition to dermatology, the fellow will also work with medical oncology directly in several clinics to learn indications, how to work-up and manage systemic treatments for cutaneous malignancies with an emphasis on immunotherapy, and targeted therapies. Equally important, the fellow will develop an expertise in identifying, diagnosing, and managing skin toxicities of anticancer treatment with a particular focus on immunotherapies.

  Description:	The Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology fellowship is designed to allow the fellow to become an expert in cutaneous laser and energy-based devices, photodynamic therapy and cosmetic dermatology (e.g., soft tissue fillers, neuromodulators, chemical peels, and sclerotherapy). By acquiring a vast body of knowledge and developing advanced skills in the assessment, treatment, and cosmetic enhancement of disfiguring skin diseases and rejuvenation of aging skin, the clinical fellow should function as an expert consultant by the end of the fellowship program. The fellow will develop skills communicating treatment options and plans, risks and benefits of treatment, and realistic expected outcomes. Collaboration with other healthcare team members such as residents, physicians (e.g., dermatologists, plastic surgeons, ophthalmologists) and technicians/assistants will be stressed to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes. Development of critical appraisal skills of the medical literature in the field of laser and cosmetic dermatology is expected. Furthermore, the fellow will contribute to the advancement of science through research and publications in peer-reviewed journals. It is expected that the fellow will contribute to the education of peers and other medical professionals through lectures and educational sessions with students/residents and as a presenter/speaker at scientific medical meetings.

  Description:	The inflammatory skin disease fellowship at University of Toronto is a 12-month multi-disciplinary program, incorporating general dermatology and internal medicine.  The fellowship is a comprehensive training program that aims to prepare clinician-researchers to care for the wide spectrum of complex dermatological cases encountered in a teaching hospital.  Fellows learn to manage inflammatory skin disorders such psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) as well as less common and complex wounds due to systemic disorders such as pyoderma gangrenosum (PG). The Fellowship also fosters a rich environment for productive research activities where fellows are encouraged to develop specific research interests.  The Fellowship provides exposure to all aspects of research including clinical research (investigator initiated and industry sponsored trials) as well as robust basic science laboratories.  Fellows learn hands on topics in study design, regulatory and ethical considerations as well as “real-life” execution of research protocols. When and how do people become fellows? Registration for candidates generally begins 6 months before the anticipated start date; interviews are conducted in the fall for the upcoming year. Our training program is one year, generally running from July 1st to June 30th, however the timelines are flexible. Typically, the CV, letter of interest and three letters of reference are needed for the application. Further documents, required for registration, will be requested if the application is successful. Who can apply? Candidates who completed a full dermatology residency by the time the fellowship commences will be considered. International candidates (i.e., outside the USA or Canada) are welcome. What is our fellowship like? The fellowship is based at Women’s College Hospital, affiliated with the University of Toronto. We expect the fellow will attend clinics with faculty involved in clinical and research work in inflammatory skin diseases, to advance their knowledge and skills in these areas. The program also offers additional opportunities to develop interest in basic science research and clinical research.  The fellow is expected to complete a fellowship research project, as per University of Toronto guidelines. The fellow will spend approximately 50% of their time in outpatient clinics (clinical time commitment will depend on research productivity), where they will learn, in a highly mentored environment, the fundamentals of inflammatory skin disease treatment and prevention. The rest of the time will be dedicated to scholarly activities (research and education). The fellows will teach trainees informally at the bedside and also 1-3 hours of formal lectures each month for residents and students. The objectives of the fellowship-training program are: To assess dermatology patients and learn how to perform a focused patient history and physical examination relevant to the complex inflammatory cases, to formulate a provisional management plan, and perform procedures under supervision; To gain expertise in multidisciplinary approach in AD, HS and PG; To present the findings of research at dermatology conferences and to prepare drafts of manuscripts suitable for publication in peer-reviewed journals; To participate in formal rounds and seminars. Fellows are funded by our research and clinical funds, if available, or their own supporting systems (governmental, university or other funding resources).   Description:	The University of Toronto program is an official fellowship accredited by the American College of Mohs Surgeons . It follows all the rules and regulations outlined by the ACMS fellowship guidelines (https://www.mohscollege.org/UserFiles/SISRB/PPGRevisions2021ACGMEEquivalencyUpdatesFINAL06-21.pdf) and also falls within the rules of University of Toronto post-graduate training. We are academic Dermatologists and Mohs Surgeons who work at Women's College Hospital within the University of Toronto.  We are part of the SF match for Mohs Surgery (http://www.sfmatch.org), and therefore you must enroll in the SF match to be considered for our fellowship. We complete about 3000 cases per year as a program. We work closely with an Oculoplastic Surgeon, Plastic Surgeons, Head and Neck Facial Plastic Surgeons and Dermatopathologists. We expect the fellow will attend clinics with each of these colleagues, and others such as Radiation Oncology and General Dermatology, to advance their knowledge and skills in these areas. We also expect the fellow to complete a fellowship research project, as per the ACMS guidelines. Our fellows are funded, either by their own supporting systems (self-funded from a government or University), or funded by us. The typical funding would be about $62, 000 CAD per year but will vary, depending on several factors.

  Description:	Goals: To prepare the fellow for a career of leadership in Emergency Medicine at local, regional, provincial, national and international levels. Responsibilities/Expectations: Clinical component: The clinical EM component consisting of twelve (12) to fourteen (14) clinical emergency department (ED) shifts (8 hours each) per month, including at least one (1) full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and two (2) night shifts per month. The Fellows role in the ED will be that of senior trainee, responsible for patient care, supervision of junior trainees, and patient / department flow, while working under the supervision of a consultant emergency medicine specialist. Responsibility will be commensurate with your background and demonstrated abilities, with progressively increasing roles and responsibilities such that you are capable of functioning independently as a consultant in a high-volume, high-acuity academic ED upon completion of your Program. Six months of clinical work will be carried out at the Sunnybrook and Women’s College Health Sciences Centre Emergency Department (Sunnybrook Site), and six months at the St-Michael’s Hospital Emergency Department (Bond St Site). Both sites are tertiary care hospitals and the only two trauma units for the city, and the main trauma referral centers for the region. They are the core training sites for Royal College Emergency Medicine residents.  St-Michael’s Hospital sees a downtown urban patient population with an emphasis on inner city health issues (homelessness, drug abuse, poverty), toxicology, trauma and cardio-vascular disease. The Sunnybrook site sees an urban patient population with an emphasis on trauma, burns, cardio-vascular disease, oncology, geriatrics and women’s health. Clinical education component: in addition to bedside teaching of residents, fellows will be expected to take part in one dedicated teaching shift per month with medical students. Clinical skills including history taking and physical examination, minor procedures (suturing, casting etc), x-ray interpretation etc are emphasized. All Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in paramedic training and evaluation. Formal educational events: Fellows are expected to attend weekly Division Emergency Medicine Grand Rounds, every Tuesday from 1000-1200, and weekly Hospital EM Rounds at either Sunnybrook or St-Michael’s Hospital.  Fellows are also expected to attend rounds specific to their Fellowship Track (e.g. Trauma, Research or EMS rounds). Fellows may be asked to present at rounds from time to time throughout the year. Conferences/CME events: Fellows are encouraged to attend other Emergency Medicine conferences or Continuing Medical Education events when their schedule permits. Research fellows will be expected to submit abstracts based on their work for presentation at scientific conferences. Journal Club: Fellows should participate in monthly Journal Clubs (second Tuesday evening of each month).  Eligibility: The candidate must have completed RCPS or CCFP-EM training in Emergency  Medicine, or the equivalent training in their country of origin (as approved by the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons), be eligible for or have passed certification examinations in Emergency Medicine, and must meet the qualifications for an educational license.
