Dr. Thompson is an Occupational Medicine Specialist physician. He completed his medical residency training and Masters of Public Health (MPH) degree at the Harvard School of Public Health and Canadian residency training and a Fellowship in Occupational Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Thompson holds an appointment at the University of Toronto as Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and a cross-appointment to the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. He is former Director of the Occupational Medicine Residency Training Program at the University of Toronto. His clinical practice is based at St. Michael’s Hospital where he is a staff physician in the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health. Dr. Thompson also serves as Chief Medical Officer of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) of Ontario. This role provides cross-organizational leadership along with collaborative working relationships with the external medical community to minimize the human and financial toll of workplace injuries and disease.
