Dr. Lidstone is a Clinician Investigator and Neurologist at the Morton and Gloria Shulman Movement Disorders Centre at Toronto Western Hospital. Dr. Lidstone completed her residency in Neurology and her fellowship in Movement Disorders at the University of Toronto. Prior to this she completed her PhD in Neuroscience at the University of British Columbia studying the placebo effect in Parkinson’s Disease. She is leading the development of a new multidisciplinary neurorehabilitation program for the treatment of movement disorders. She created a collaboration with Toronto Rehabilitation Institute (TRI) to execute this that represents a new direction for patient care for both institutions. Dr. Lidstone is passionate about patient-centered approaches to care, including self-management and education, which are important components of the program, as well as establishing strong community networks. In addition to her experience in Parkinson’s Disease, Dr. Lidstone also has a strong academic and clinical interest in Functional Movement Disorders. She is the co-director of the Integrated Functional Movement Disorders Clinic which was piloted during her fellowship. This experience has also led to the development of a research program for Functional Disorders focusing on treatment models.
